Innovative MSBC and ATR Wastegate problems

I've got an Innovative boost controller hooked up to an ATR wastegate and whenever the car hits peak boost it chokes itself down to zero boost. So it'll go up to like 15 psi without a problem but as soon as the gauge hits 15 it'll quickly drop down to 10, then 5, and then 0 psi. I checked to wastegate and that functions fine on its own. I checked the plumbing for the Humphrey solenoids and air supply and everything checks out. Where else could the problem be? I'll try to get some pictures of the set up tonight and post them here. Thanks.

ATR gate?

I had the same combo.. the gate has been replaced w/ the Innov. Pro gate. If you have the ATR plumbed w/ the single line setup, it may not work. Also, the atr is famous for being easily hung up, due to the valve guide. John craig has a mod he does. Sometimes it works, sometimes the gate just won't work w/ the Innov. controller.

Hey chuck, are you using the innovative gate on the ATR downpipe?

I have never seen one but I thought the ATR gate was the only thing that would fit.

What did you have to do to get it to work?

ATR headers and Innov Gate?

Mike, you have to make the tube on the DP a bit longer toward the ft of the car, and change the flange. The part on the header will work, just file the lower bolt hole a little.
You can get the flanges from the vendor. I got mine fromJC.
HTH,

Got any pics?

Hows your boost control with the ATR DP and Innovative Gate? I plan to run 100psi and go 190mph in the 1/4  ;)

im running the atr dp and a turbonetics gate and had to change nothing all controlled whith the innovative controller .........use dedicated 1/4 inch lines on the gate it helps

I've got the ATR downpipe too and I was very tempted to order the Innovative Progate myself. I'll probably end up going that route anyways. I took some pictures of the set up. Hopefully someone might see something that I'm missing. I can't help wonder if maybe its the lines being used. They appear somewhat old and are held on by zip ties. I'm going to try some good solid line and connections first. It looks to be just 1/8 NPT threading and fittings. Anyways here's the pictures....

Plumbing pics

My gate and solenoids are plumbed w/ heavy wall hose and ty wrapped at all the junctions. Works fine.
Did you use the Innovative gate instructions to get the plumbing routed? If so, be sure you have the pipe plug in the correct port on the sol., otherwise you have control problems.
I made a tester out of an inexpensive valve and gauge from Home depot. I hooked it up to my compressor, and w/ the gate off, I ran "boost" to the system and watched the gate move.I also was able to set the controller to a boost level, add air into the system, watch the gate start to move. This confirmed the accuracy of the controller. The builder has told me that the control is accurate +/- 1psi.
I also confirmed that the MAP sensor for the control was reading right. I found I had the plug in the wrong port, and also had the line run only to the base of the ATR gate. When I did get it right, the gate was found to be FUBAR.. Thus the INNOV gate was put on...
A BIG problem w/ the ATR gate is the way it seals,[or doesn't:mad: ] on the flange on the header. Mine had eroded the flange to a depth of 1/16"! The valve guide was also fubar.. even w/ the John Craig mods, it was not a reliable piece.

It appears to me that the gate is being fed boost on the wrong side of the diaphram, and once the level rises far enuf, it over rides the gate and dumps your boost. Solenoid pulsing at the wrong time??

Chuck,
Any pictures of your install? I just purchased controller, and I'm looking for plumbing and mounting ideas. I'm upgrading to a PT67 with racegate. Please email if possible.

Thanks

Keith
