Knock Sensor Test?

Other than banging around on stuff to be sure it's working, is there a test for the knock sensor?
Can it be too sensitive, and if so, what causes that?

It can be too sensitive and pick up false knock if torqued down beyond the desired factory 14 ft lbs spec.

Other than double-checking for the correct tightness, are there any other ways to check them out?
Correct voltage, perhaps?
