LT1 starter ?

Installed an LT1 starter and it does not sound right to me when cranking. Installed shims and it sounded even worse. Maybe I have to install a shim on one of the bolts instead of both. Anyone have a similar problem?

which LT1 starter did you install? the Camaro/Caprice one or the Vette one?
the vette one is a gear reduction starter and will sound a little different than the other one.
