headgasket.. and the heads are o-ringed

ok guys.. my motor guy got the heads off.. and there are holes!! in the heads.. anyone EVER seen this????

one thing I noticed on an engine pic.. SS line coming from the fuel rail is close to the back of the alternator.. does it have the cap on it ?? could get ugly if it didn't

head gasket!

a head gasket can cause a ticking noise? cause i pulled motor out for a noise
on pass side and never though of it being a head gasket ---- engine is on stand ---- i have to pull apart

Just taking a stab at it but maybe the holes are a place for pressure to go if it begins to lift a head???
