I'd posted this in the emissions section but a couple of guys thought it might be of value here as well.
My car had been sitting for a couple of years and had maybe a half a tank or so of old gas in it. Rolling the dice a bit I topped off the tank, went for an emissions test and failed miserably.
Nothing had changed on the car since I'd last been tested and passed so I assumed it was mostly just the old gas. I pumped almost all of it out, refilled it with fresh sparkling premium and went for a retest.
And there you have it. The effects of old gas on emissions.
