I'm planning on attending the tour this year and I was hoping somone could give me a heads up on things. It starts the second week of june, Do I need to make hotel reservations now or will it be easy to get a room as I go? Also my main concern is walking out of my hotel room and finding that someone has taken my car. Did anyone have any problems with theft, vandalism etc...

I've been on the tour a few times. It's a blast but can be tiresome if you're not prepared. My suggestion is to check out the hotrodpowertour club for more information. They have simple site setup at http://clubs.yahoo.com/club/hotrodpowertour/
If that's the wrong link I'll get the right one later for ya. Prepare to have a lot of fun and book your rooms ASAP. I drove a 69 Mustang Convertible and went with a group of people. We had no problems with our cars getting vandalized. More than likely you'll be at a Hotel with a bunch of others from the tour. Motel 8s are Popular as well as the venerable Motel 6s.
