Rear Bumper Strip

Okay....so I have a decent rear bumper strip....bought new top hats to connect it to the bumper...so, I crawl under the car today and I can't even get my hand in there to attach the top hat connectors...can someone kindly assist me with how to attach this rear bumper strip.....thanks guys....the car is a 86 GN.

Bumper needs to come off
Chose your poison
The bumper off the shocks or the shocks off the frame
Me - I start with bumper off the shocks first.
Lighter.

Strip the bumper, weld the holes up, grind down, recondition and paint. Looks so much better smooth then with the rubber strip.
