I bought an 82' 3.8 short block to replace the 4.1 in my 84 regal, it was rebuilt late 83 and only has 1200 orignal miles on it, never ran after the rebuild. So of course I decided to tear it down and re- rebuild it since it sat for so long. All the caps/rods were already marked so I know I have the correct rod/piston in each cylinder....but I didnt look to see which way the "notch" on the piston top was facing.
Im pretty sure I have everything in the way it came out, and all the Notches face the rear of the motor (if they are wrong and should face the front at least Im consistant, lol)
So does the "notch" on the piston top mark the front or back of the piston, and should it face the rear or front of the motor? TIA
