Last weekend I was in the process of tightening the valve covers when I shorts the hot wire at the back of the alternator to the valve cover with a ratchet. Other than the little mark it left on the cover, is there any other things I should look for? Can this affect the ECM? I have not really noticed any major elect problems, hoewever I really haven't driven the car since. One thing is, my heater fan did blow a fuse.

Kinda felt like Homer Simpson for a minute.

USUALLY JUST POPS A FUSE OR TWO. OF COURSE I HAVE NEVER DONE ANY WORK WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FIRST.
YEA RIGHT.

Wait til you have done it with a metal watch band. One quickly learns why they repeatedly tell you not to wear such things when working. Amazing how quickly the band turns red and the stench of burnt flesh fills the air.

It should be okay...the car, not the arm. :)
