Hi all, Im new to this forum but hopefully I'll be the owner of an 87 T-type in the next few days if all goes well. The problem with the car is that it doesnt shift out of 1st when driving down the road. it will shift as far as the gear selector and like that fine from park to reverse to neutral and so on, but does not shift into any gear past 1st gear. The owner has been very pushy about how he knows its a kick-down cable thats causing the problem, but I want him to be positive before I buy the car. He had a rebuilt 700 R4 tranny (200 miles on it now) swapped into it inplace of the original one. The transmission shop I had it towed to is going to look at it tomorrow and let me know whats going on with it, but do any of you guys have an idea if its the "kickdown cable" (TV cable?) or do you think that its something internally wrong with the tranny?
