Does anyone make an adaptor to allow a 4 bolt turbo to mount on the 3 bolt header ?? I have a turbo from a ford powerstoke diesel (a T04 i believe). I'd like to try it out on the car and seen what happens. Hopefully nothing bad.

Yeah I know they're available but I don't know a supplier sorry. Good luck.

How recent is that turbo?? Because the 99.5 and later PowerStrokes have a massive turbo on them. It's the equivalent of a PT-80
80mm compressor wheel, and a huge turbine wheel in a .95 housing.
Unless you've got an extremely high stall converter, you'll never get that thing spun up :(

here ya go, this is from turbonetics:

"T04B ADAPTER
If you really want to get serious , this is for you! Simple adapter flange converts the stock G.N. 3-bolt turbine mounting flange to the standard T04B 4-bolt pattern. Now you can bolt on a T04B or even a T-series turbo. Contact a TURBONETICS turbo specialist for a turbo recommendation. Requires remote wastegate and reconfigured down pipe. "

Dave, I believe it was from a 95. The A/R is .83 on the compressor. My converter will brake stall around 2800 rpm. Do you think that would be too much turbo? I also am considering having my Gn turbine mated up with the PS compressor. ANy thoughts on doing this? I figure it would be like a T3/4 hybred.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

this is sounding like a bad idea. dont diesels normally run crazy boost? doesnt sound like enough converter to spool the turbo. the4 compressor is probably huge too. you can try it but im doubting this will be vewry productive but who knows. how would a .63 garret housing fit on huge turbine like the PS turbo? arent they machined different? i know you cant swap a stock center section onto a ta49 b/c the machining is diiferent. did you manage to get one of the PS intercoolers also? some people use them with great success.

2800 rpm probably isn't enough stall for that turbo. If you have the turbo though, what the hell, why not try it.

That's what I figured. Hell for 25 bucks, how could I go wrong. The turbo is in great shape. I'll try and find a turbo shop around here to see what they think. It'll help to see them side by side with someone who knows what is what.

The center housing is identical. So is the shaft dia.

They may appear identical. but these are big shaft turbo's with compressors that measure at or near 80mm. Hardly compatible with anything stock Buick.

At work i have a fleet of trucks. Some 97 powerstrokes. They have bigger turbos than my big housing te-66. On top of that the powersroke will barely spool the turbo before redline. Good luck.

Sounds like you fellas know what your talking about. So I should probably drop this idea then. Thanks for all your help.

You need to take a ride in a "new" "chipped" power stroke, like mine maybe ;)

I used my brothers chipped 99 4wd dually to tow my car to Norwalk in 2001 . I was very much impressed. The powerstrokes at work are derated 175 horse non wastegated. They are pigs.
