My uncle is working on a 94' ford Thunderbird and is trying to change the rear brake pads. It has disc brakes on all four corners. Problem is...he cant get the caliper to compress to fit in the pads and put it back on the rotor. Any special trick to this? The fluid valve is open...and the only other thing on the caliper is a lever. when you move the lever...it moves the piston forward..but not backwards. Whats going on? Anyone change the brakes on these? Please reply as soon as possible...because my uncle is trying to figure this out as we speak.

thanks

You need a special tool that fits on the end of a rachet to twist the caliper piston back in to place. This is what makes the e-brake work. You can get the tool from NAPA.

The tool is a cube with different patterns on each side. You should find it at any parts store.
