Who has went the fastest with...?

Melissa had 275x50x15 Nitto's (I think that was the size...26 -26 1/2 maybe ) ...1.8 short times...70*...slows down a tenth or 2 in real dead heat in the summer

So since you did the heads, the car has went relatively the same mph and et?

..and for everyone else, what size tire were you on? 28 incn or 26 inch tall, also what was the weather like??

Keep the answers coming..

I haven't ran the car yet since I've done the heads. If you don't do the heads you HAVE to use a 28" tire to run this fast. My car wouldn't go over 114 with 26" tires.

Weather was nice, about 65 degrees, with low humidity. Intercooler was cool to the touch before I ran, track was a little slippery. This was also with skinny front tires. It only went 11.66@117.77 with T wheels up front.

Also, My TA49 has a Garrett housing. I'd like to try a Precision housing next season to see if it makes a difference.

My theory is if you are using a 12 inch converter, if you are not launching the car hard(10psi +) they will potentially slow you down since it is harder to spin a 28 inch tire vs 26 inch tire. Up till now I have ran my car on a 26 inch tire and have went 11.8@115 on 275-50-15 bfg launching soft(4-7psi), I plan on going to 28 inch slick and launching the car hard(10 psi ++) and see what she will do.

Red's Hot Air---What diameter tire did you run when you ran 121.5 mph with the TA-49? Thanks.

there have been people go in the 10's with a 44, although I don't know any specifics.

I do know that Lonnie Diers GN went something like 10.99 on a 49.

For the record..

I watched a car with a te-44 with the 82 Garret housing, 12 inch red strip converter, mild head work with stock valves, stretch stock location IC, 009's go 11.3@118, and then he got greedy and turned the giggle gas on(75 shot) and went 10.7@125.

This was on a 26 inch et street in low 50 degree weather.

funny ...235/60/15 drag radials

they're right at 26" tall but I went to o/d before the traps

I now use 28" tires

personally I like 27" hoosiers but I got a good deal o these 28/12.50's

Red's,

Are these Nittos? I have 235/60 BFG Drag Radials on the back of my car for the street and they are 28" tall. Same height as my 28" x 10.5" MT ET Drags.

I run 28x9.0 M/T that are actually 27.3 in dia. I used to run 26. With the PTE exhaust housing and taller tire I need to launch at 10 psi or the 60' is slow. The 11.43 was with a clear blue sky and temp in the 50's. The car weighs 3750 with me in it and 1/2 tank gas.

235/60's are 26", 275/60 are 28"

On my old car (GN) which made right at 525 HP I used a 28" tire with no problems pulling them at all. Matter of fact, I picked up a few MPH going up to the 28" over the 26"ers that were on it before I upped the size. I never locked the converter and ran 125.6 MPH on its best pass. Now with my new car (TTA), which has the 3.23 gear, I'm a little hesitant on trying the 28" tire untill I know it's making in the upper 400 HP range. I make all my passes with this car with the TCC locked up. Unlocked, the car will instantly drop 3 MPH like clock work.

11.21 @ 121MPH

TE-44
Kenne-Bell front mount
ported heads
200/200 cam
40lbs injectors w/7th injector
28" tires w/ 3.73 gears

This is my dad's car. It was about five years ago since we had this combo. He used a TE-60 to get to 10.90's.

My car has been 11.59 @ 116MPH.
I had a stock intercooler & 26" tires. Same turbo & injectors.

I went 11.43 @121. With a 1.61 60ft, Stage Right trans brake and 26x10`s.
BTW...my car was a dog on 28`s with the stock motor and small turbo. It is my OPINION that 28`s are to much with a small turbo. 63 and up, is a totally different story.
Build-up:
te-44 w/ Precision 63 housing, CAS V-2, 009`s, 70mm and Hemco, D-5 stalled @ 3000, Red`s 107 chip, 24 psi, stock cam stock heads, never opened with 90,000 miles.
Anyone looking for a Stage Right? I have a couple to sell for $120 including shipping.
Thanks,

10.99@121
TA-49

3.42 gears
