I would think if too high of a stall speed you'd have nuisance wheel spin leaving stop lights with lousy top end power & too low of stall speed would feel like you were towing an anchor on the bottom end.

Take the car to the track and make a balls out run. Post the PL file and let Dusty and Bison go over it. They'll be able to tell you what your convertor is/isn't doing...and what improvement(s) can be made.
