thanks for the replies
thinking that it may be a pulley makes sense to me but im not sure how to check which one it is, other than taking off the belt that is. i will check that alternator thing too. hopefully it is not a tranny thing, i dont want to have to deal with that right now!
i am having an interesting problem with my 86 GN. a couple days ago my car started making a 'humming' noise at idle and it is most significant when shifting into gear. i can feel it sometimes too, through my left foot when it is resting near the firewall. the noise lasted for a day, then went...
thanks for the help. looks like i have something new to save up for! just curious, that kit comes with 60lbs injectors...what is the flow of the stock injectors?
i am looking to install a boost bleeder on my car in attempts to lower the boost (see the reasoning behind this in my thread 'serious knock issues and possible solutions'). i have been doing some reading and it seems that there is only info on how to increase boost by using one of these. can i...
dont worry, it'll be a while before i put my foot to the floor again. i dont want to have to rebuild this engine any time soon so i'm going to stay out of it till everything works. i plan on doing most of the mentioned upgrades but i have some questions. keep in mind i want the car to be as...
i just installed my scanmaster today on my bone stock 86 gn and found some interesting numbers when i took it out for a test run. after a 3rd gear roll on to full throttle the scanmaster recall showed 760 mV and 19* of knock retard (i dont have any other numbers, how do you recall these?)...
i had the same problem last year on my 86 GN (my unit ended up failing on me while i was driving, luckily i was on an empty street and no one was hurt). trust me, save your self lots of time and headaches and just get that powermaster out of there. you can convert to a hydroboost or a vacuum...
i need to replace the mufflers on my '86 gn and i am thinking either magnaflows or pypes (violator or race pro, is one better/louder/more abnoxious). any thoughts? i like the sound of both (maybe the pypes a little better)but i am looking for some input. is there any performance advantage to...
i am in the same situation here. i'm looking to replace the dynomax's that were on the car when i bought it, they sound ok but they are rusting out and i want something a little more aggressive. does anybody know where i can find a sound clip of the magnaflows?...i looked on youtube and it isn't...
thanks for the replies.
the car is a 1986 grand national. it was totally stock when i bought it and the only modification that i have made so far is to ditch the powermaster brakes (when they failed on me while i was driving) and install a vacuum system which now works great.
i did buy it...
i am doing the vac conversion soon and i ordered a vacuum booster and master cylinder from an 86 regal with a v8 and found a pedal from an 85 monte carlo (this should work, right?). i assume it is a single diaphram booster but i am not sure. is it a single or should i cancel the order and get...
when converting from the powermaster to a vacuum system on my 86 gn are there any modifications that need to be made to the brake lines such as length or the order in which they connect to the master cylinder (front to back), or do they bolt right in?
any other tips on how to do this before...
i have an 86 gn and i am also considering doing a swap on the brakes, either to hydroboost or a vacuum system, i havent decided. i found a step by step install guide for the hydroboost but i was wondering if there is a similar guide for instaling a vacuum system?
