what stall are you running with bolt ons stock block?

I originally had a Vigilante converter and it worked well, but David built a torque converter for my setup and all I can say is the difference was night and day. David’s converter woke my combo up and it puts a smile on my face every time I punch it. Give him a call...you won’t regret it.

Pump destroyed and converter hub cracked....thinking slide failure

Avoid 13 vane. Causes pressure irregularities and more prone to break.

    transmission temp

Best place is in the pan. That gives you the actual fluid temperature that is going back into the transmission pump and the rest of the system, and that is the information you need. Shoot for 150 degrees on average. It will run higher or lower depending on ambient temp and what you are doing...

200 4R "whine" at slow speeds

I've been following your post for a while as I had similar issues. Mine had the 3-2 downshift clunk so I came to this site for help. For me the servo cushion spring solved the problem: I had the Superior servo in mine. I pulled tranny, removed servo, and found it had no cushion spring. I...

Rough 3-2, is my thinking right?

Good deal. Unfortunately, that's all the help I have for you. Will be watching to see what others suggest. Keep us posted on what you finally figure out.

Rough 3-2, is my thinking right?

Do you still have checkball 4? If so, remove it and retest. Same with checkball #2...remove that too. On my setup I have 4 checkballs in the case and 2 in the valve body: 4 in the case are #3, #6, #9, and #10. On the valve body I omitted the center one #8 for a firmer 1-2 shift. Also, what...

    Question for the 2004r Masters

Assuming it was built correctly, it sounds like TV cable is too tight. Start with TV adjustment. Monster transmissions are hit and miss on the TH200-4R rebuilds. Depends on core they used and what the did to it.

    PTC 9.5" Install Questions

Good deal. Coolant lines are easier to fix than pulling transmission to replace a seal. Glad you solved the problem!

    PTC 9.5" Install Questions

I'm thinking front pump seal too. I always replace that seal when I remove and reinstall a torque converter. It may have been worn or you may have nicked it when reinstalling the converter.

    200-4R 2nd Band Release hole

You did...thanks for recapping the details as it clarified the full path start to finish. The reason I asked that question again is you made a comment in the earlier post: "so the way we fix this issue is by getting the fluid to the release side of the piston faster i.e. larger orifice (hole)...

    200-4R 2nd Band Release hole

Thanks for the additional information gunzandgearz. It all makes good sense, but can you confirm which hole in the separator plate is related to the release side of the piston?

    200-4R 2nd Band Release hole

I used some aluminum plugs that I got from a guy at our local AAMCO. He is the go to guy around here for transmission modification parts. Some shift kits come with plugs too.

    200-4R 2nd Band Release hole

On mine it was at medium light throttle where it felt like the second gear band was still holding when the 3rd gear clutches engaged, then the band released just a hair late. If I let off the throttle just as the shift was happening I could get it to do a pretty tight bind, like being in 2nd...
