    My 1984 GN rear end brake backing plates are in bad need of replacment, between out of shape and clip pin hole oversized because of wear. Does any know of any replacement, NOS, aftermarket or just real good used ones thanks, junkin

    Strap bolts I bouhgt new straps and bolts, the new ones are fine threads (5/16 x 24)and the yoke looks to be standard threads.

    How a 1984 posi that I bought seperatly that does not have any yoke bolts or straps. What size is the bolts/threads and were there straps used or caps used. Also the posi spring must be week because you can turn one axle easy with about a 16" bar between the axle studs while holding the other...

    Can you tell what year by the axle code and is the 2.5 axle tube correct for a 8.5 gear?

    The inside passenger side axle tube: 6TP G 178 Axle tube OD: 2.5" Cover: 10 Bolts, app. 3" apart Wheels studs: metric Outside drum to outside drum: 58" Ring gear: looks about 8.25" It does have limited slip unit with the tag.

    Have plans to buy a 1987 posi from a guy that I don't know this weekend. Need to know what to look for as far the condition with it in a truck bed. What tells me it's a posi, how much moment in the yoke and etc. Any help will be appreciated.
