    Damaged Stator I think...

No there isn't another style, but as you said: x2 on the stripped stator. Would bet its non lock as the check ball capsule is removed from the input shaft. I wanted to let him know it was a factory lockup, I should have just said they never made a factory non-lockup 2004R, and that the...

    Damaged Stator I think...

It is a lockup style with that input shaft, the stator splines being missing will cause it to dog off the line because the stator can't be held by the sprag so you don't get your higher stall speeds (even a stock TC needs the stator held to get whatever the stall speed is rated at, or it will be...

No change when moving shifter into gear

Before you pull anything apart, check all the things mentioned and make sure you know where the problem is. I don't know how much of your own work you do but having an expert do the repairs or at least the more delicate parts of repairs and maybe the diagnostics could save you time and money if...

No change when moving shifter into gear

Good point, he can completely disconnect a cooler line too, and see if it pumps fluid out when the engine starts. Put a hose on both ends and into a can to watch the flow, the above are all true, if no pumping it could be convertor out too far, or pump blew up on startup if no clearance, or no...

No change when moving shifter into gear

How much fluid is in it? They hold about 8 quarts or less with a small convertor. I expect you looked at the driveshaft to see if it moves, if not do so. What's the story on the trans, was it rebuilt, or used and in good working condition? Is it the original convertor-the one that belongs to...

    Converter???

Holding the brakes at full throttle will overheat the trans pretty quick if done for too long, that's if the tires don't spin and you have to back off the gas. Some guys find if they hold the RPM just below when the tires turn they run faster, some don't give any preload at all, it depends on...

Who's Trans Do You Have? (POLL)

Westshore Transmissions Ltd I ran 400s I built for 20+ years, with a brake and billet goodies for 10+ years one of our in-house builders did, and now installing a 4L80E built by one of our in-house builders. Converter is from TCS Products, a premier converter builder, but also the builder of...

    WOT Upshift problems

He's probably right on the valves, the TV is the most likely to get stuck by the smallest particle, I thnk you can remove the TV valve without pulling the valve body. Pull the retainer pin and use a magnet to pull the valve out unless someone put a titanium valve in there. Ceal the valve and...

    4L60E diagnosis

Yeh, sounds like the plate. Hope everything works out. Larry

    4L60E diagnosis

Being a 4X4 it could be something in the trans or transfercase, like a shift fork or converter, or pump problem. But if your doing it yourself you should check stuff like bellhousing and transfercase bolts first. Then you should use a stethoscope to "try" and further diagnose before you pull...

    Trans slip issue

Usually you'll see a cavitation problem in your 60' but you do have a quick car. He's right about getting a better pan and pickup for sure a stock setup is not up to the task. But cold problems usually are caused by stuck valves, which could be due to stuff from second being burnt out too. Get...

    Trans slip issue

It sounds like there might be some contamination in the fluid. The valves have thousenths, or tenth of thousenths clearance and it doesn't take more than a few pieces to stick them. That can cause shift valves or pressure valves to jam. You should take it back to whoever did it last if it was...

Floored the gas, and didnt go anywhere!...

Why don't you have someone install a permanent fuel pressure guage. I have used one for years and my car isn't turboed yet. I found it saved me a motor once in the quarter mile when it ran low on fuel pressure just at the end of the track. It's cheap insurance. Larry J

Floored the gas, and didnt go anywhere!...

"Update: i took this advice into consideration." That wasn't advise- :eek:that was just a guess at the problem-my advise was to do a stall test to check the trans. To prove what the problem is you have to actually try driving it with a pressure guage like I mentioned in my advise above when I...
