Turbo Regal Mechanic/Tuner Needed in Colorado

Good luck with emissions, I failed so many times thought they would throw me in prison. My formula is: Install the catalytic convertor Turbo tweak Emissions Chip for 60's Dial back the boost as far as possible Fuel Pressure at 35-38 93 octane Car warmed up - north of 180 if possible, 200 even...

Turbo Regal Mechanic/Tuner Needed in Colorado

I'm in Aurora - work downtown. I escaped from Illinois in 1982. I do the tunning and small stuff on my car - I also have a GN specific mechanic for the big stuff. I could show you mine - take a look at yours.

    Just started to stumble/backfire...why?

When you parked it 7 weeks ago did you put a trickle charger on it to keep the battery fresh?

    Buick History

Buick pack rat here... Came across my Kenne Belle "After Cooler" yesterday. Remember the 7th injector? I still have the ATR "Hi-Speed Fan Revision Kit" paddle hanging in front of the radiator. Geez...

3" Single exhaust - Sound? Experience?

It's a personal preference thing. I ran the single shot 3" for years, it was too loud for me, car sounded health - just too loud in all RPM bands. I prefer the 2 1/2" duals with stainless walker ultra flows, loud isn't fast, it's just loud.

    Boost backfire rough idle

I just endured a similar process - I know exactly how you feel. Changed everything, new 60# injectors, coil pack / module, ECM, plug wires, plugs, volt booster, Hot Wire, chips, multiple MAF's, cam sensor, crank sensor, smoke test, vacuum test, known good alternator, compression test, Blue Top...

    Apples to Apples - PT-51 versus 6262

Ratts, changes, changes. I'm a big fan of our friends in Hebron. Speaking of changes, Dusty Bradford has completely redefined the TR convertor conversation and marketplace. We're a long way from the Club "Red Stripe" these days.

    Apples to Apples - PT-51 versus 6262

Thank You Bison, Between your help and the information available in the "PTE 6262 Journal Bearing" thread, 5862 is all the turbo I'll ever need. Time to call Patrick, speak with Dusty, start flowing some coin into our Buick vendors.

    Apples to Apples - PT-51 versus 6262

Thanks Bison, I've been out of the game for many years, a lot has changed, trying to get back up to speed. But if I may, it seems you are suggesting the 5862 could be plenty of compressor for the 62 turbine wheel, that would be great, I suspect it will spool a tad quicker. Or, is the 5862...

    Apples to Apples - PT-51 versus 6262

I know there is light years of technology between them, but pure dimensions. Check me here: PT-51 compressor 2.29" = 58 MM PT-51 Turbine 2.795" = 70 MM Using modern labeling, a PT-51 is a 5870. Smaller comressor diameter but larger turbine diameter than a 6262 Same drill - TE-44 TE-44...

    86'gn hesitation,sputter off idle

Smoke machine The smoke machine is a powered device / canister used by auto repair shops - I understand it's expensive, and likely beyond the means of us lowly GN drivers. In my example, we hung the device / canister from the hood, hooked it to the battery for power, then plug the smoke...

    86'gn hesitation,sputter off idle

With this being a recent development with no other changes, odds are it's a vacuum leak. High BLM's would suggest the same. Vacuum leaks can be pesty demons - smoke test is the most comprehenive means to find them. Don't be surprised if you uncover 2 or 3. Don't overlook the hard lines...
