    tach reading 1K too high and idling 100 rpm too high.

    The "boob" and I got the finishing touches put on the GN we are working on, and got it fired. It's idling around 1000 - 1100 RPM, and I have tried setting base idle via procedure followed by TPS which seems to help for a minute then it's back to same problem.     Victor Reinz head bolts

    Thanks, The instructions for the Victor bolts and the Buick Shop Manual were both exactly the same so I can only assume the bolt design is exactly the same as far as stretch etc.:confused:

    Well I got my hands on one of the big Buick shop manuals, and it says the exact same thing, if you reach 60 lbs tq on the first 90*, leave it. Looks like thats the procedure on the TTY bolts. :smile:

    Putting a GN motor back together for someone and he bought these torque to angle headbolts. The instructions call for 25 lb tq, then step 2 90*, step 3 90*, but under this it says "60 tq may be reached during step 2, if so do not repeat step 3. Installing the bolts sure enough it hit 60 ft...

    Reputable Buick shops in Detroit area

    Hey Tim, Glad to hear the problem wasn't something big. That would totally SUCK. Back in spring of 1999 I spent a ton of money having someone do a total rebuild to the engine in my Limited only to have to pull it back out... :mad: Needless to say I never let that "someone" near my car...

    putting motor together tomorrow, few questions

    If the block was worked on by a machine shop, be sure to check to see if the machine shop put those 2 little coolant drain plugs back in each side of the block. The removed mine and never put them back in... I didnt notice, so we assembled my engine... and when we got the thing all done and...
