Old combo: Standard bore 109, 218/212 roller, 1.6 Scorpions, GN1's, Champion intake. 10.67 at 125. Dyno 549HP / 570 Qt on 93 octane and fuel additive.
My grand national was mostly a show car. No fiberglass, no cage, with working A/C, radio and cruise-control. I enjoyed the car for almost 13 years and never had one failure. Never a blown head gasket and the 18 MPG was very nice.
This is a result of careful parts selection and tuning. These cars can be very reliable and I have proven it. I could have made it much faster, but at the expense of originality, dependability, MPG etc. I ended up selling the car and got all of the money back that I spent on the hobby, so what a great experience it was, and it cost me nothing.
