    ... so if I wanted to build a streetable 8-second GN ...

    > If you do this, please keep us posted on your progress. You can count on it :) I'm still in research stage right now, but it's certainly looking like a fun project... A common trick for the Supras was a small shot of spray to get the turbos spooling at lower RPMs. Has that been tried...

    > Unless you have driven a TR capable of 130+MPH in the 1/4 and have experienced the unexpected loss of traction at any given time [..] Heh. To put this all in context, my RT/10 runs the 1/4 mile at 150-152 MPH, and I've spun both rear tires on it at 120 MPH in a straight line (and that was...

    > With all due respect, you can buy mine listed at the above link. Now that's what I'm talking about! Of course, it's not a project car if it's already built, but I'm willing to overlook that point. I'll drop you a line straightaway. For those in Cali, how have out-of-state modified...

    > I can't imagine a huge single turbo V6 being much fun below 5000rpm. Yah, that was pretty much the problem with my Supra. It had a 6-speed and didn't make real power until 4800 RPM. I had assumed the larger displacement of the Buick V6 would make the powerband more tractable.

    > The bottom line is that the whole idea of driving a car in this HP range on the street is silly. I will decide that for myself. My RT/10 makes 1200 BHP, and it's quite driveable as a street car.

A turbo SBC is certainly a possibility, especially since I'd want to start with a rolling chassis with a blown (or missing) engine anyway. I'm actually rather surprised this is such a rarity - the formula for an 8-second Viper or 'Vette is straightforward though not cheap. Chris Chow speaks...

It's fall out here in Northern California, and time for me to start thinking about a new project car. I've always liked the GNs (probably because they were the stuff of domestic legend back when I was a lad of driving age) and since the parts and technology seem to be available for them, they...
