On another board, they are telling me 106 octane will actually make the stock TTA run worse than 91 octane. Whats your guys opionions?

Would an alky kit hurt the car? I do not want to make any mods to ruin the integrity of this garage queen. Just want to get all I can out of it with little mods.

that "other board" is full of beans!

I would be surprised if you can hit stock boost levels (15 lbs or so) on 91 without some detonation....it'll run much better on 100+ octane unleaded or with alky

you can over-do octane levels, but not with the stuff that is available in unleaded form

Thanks!

I lurk over there once in awhile and always come back. They are a bunch of little bitc*s!

If you don't increase your timing when running higher octane, then you won't get the benefit from the good fuel. You need more timing (my car likes 26*to 28* with 110) to extract the power from the fuel.
I am sure someone here can technically explain it better.

Example is when running 112 to 116 fuel with 20*to 22*, some cars have been know to run slower than with 93 octane. This maybe what the other guys were talking about.

ok what chip??????/

To increase my timing a little bit???

The timing thing did not work on my car. 100-116 octane. up to 27 degrees of timing. Not worth it. Get alky kit from Julio or build your own and save a few dollars while running lower timing. I was faster on alky than any race gas. TTA's seem to react a little different, but just giving my insight on the subject.

running 106 or whatever octane, if leaded, will make the car run worse after time, but only because it will kill your o2 sensor which will force the car to run very rich.....

106 unleaded is what I have......

maybe I will just leave it stock or go ALKY,,,

Is ALKY hard on the engine?

Alky is hard on tranny's, tires, rear ends, suspension, and mod money.. cuase once you taste 22-25 PSI on the street.. you'll sell your soul..

Those that have ventured to the dark side... never go back..

I tell ya its worse than crack :D

Only thing I can think of is if it is leaded gas it will clog the oxygen sensor and possilby the cat converter.

Why not just use 100 octane UNLEADED or 104 UNLEADED if available.

Then you can upgrade to a 98 octane chip and run nice boost levels around 20-22 psi. and be perfectly happy and safe on the street with no harm to sensors or cats. and no huge timing either.

Only about $4.50 a gallon too. :)

Just go alky and you will be happy. It's cheaper than race gas and the more I read it, most of us can use it to get the times from our cars. Just takes a little more tuning IMO but there are folks out there that can help.

Thanks guys, I am sold.

I will be ordering a kit.

I am not very mechanically inclined, does it come installed at that price:D
