My car has a AVC dash; eventually I want to change it out for the GNS one but for now I need to make it work. The mechanical speedo hasn't worked in a long time. The mileage clicks away and the computer sees the MPH so I know the cable was spinning ok.

I ordered a VDO electric speedo to replace it for now but I am not sure how the hookup will go with the VSS/Speed sensor.

Instructions I found online show a 3 wire VSS. I think the one that came with the AVC dash is 2 wire. I also ordered a new one from JTR because the one I have the wires are pulling out and I think that is a 2 wire too. Should I have just gone with a newer style 16 pulse and a box to convert it? I am going to install the new sensor on the trans and eliminate the speedo cable completely.

Something like this would be the alternative I think?

Anyone have any advice on this? I was ready to just trash the dash because the gas gauge was also not working and the tach was flakey but I seemed to have that working right now by fixing some grounds.
