11.50's...no bar?...no problem!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure if anyone else was somewhat confused about the new NHRA rule. I read their first press release and was left with the opinion that they were targeting the latest performance cars (Vipers, Vettes, etc.)

Interested in how this could affect the TT6 event, I contacted Woodburn Dragstrips Track Operator...her's his response:

(11.49) Roll bar rule applies to every car in every class.

So we can all turn up the wick!

I found this on turbobuicks.com is it true that you don't have to have a roll bar if your running 11.50's or slower?

I was under the same impression, that it applied to new performance cars. However, about 4 weeks ago I ran my GN at Houston Raceway Park on Friday night street racing. We went 11.63 and 11.64, with no bar. No one said anything. Maybe they were just being lenient.
I know I should have one with those kind of times, but I have an artificial hip and it's just too hard to get in and out with one. Besides, I don't take the car to the track that much.

Also, I just found this on YAHOO looking it up.

11.99 for a roll bar has been changed to 11.49 in the rule book so no more hassle!!**NHRA RULE BOOK says-Roll bar mandatory in all cars (including t-tops) running 11.00-11-49 (7.00-7.35) , in convertibles running 11.00-13.49 (7.00-8.25)

COOOOL:cool: But, I still need a roll bar to go faster...NOT so cool:p

Yeah I know, I really haven't had anytime to get a roll bar yet. I guess I'll have to take it easy off the line;) So, I guess 11.51's are in order until then.

At Firebird Raceway the tech inspectors will write the fastest time the car is qualified to run on the back window. They used to put 12.0 on mine, but last time I went they put 11.5 on. This should end any speculation.
