So, I have a few new mods before I hit the track again. RJC powerplate + 60# injectors + chips. Previously, (for fun) I went 12.3 @ 124 or so on the 225 60 Yokohama AVS Z rated tires, running 32 psi in them at Bandimere (elev way up there too, DA's are over 10,000 feet sometimes). Now I'm back at sea level with more fuel and hopefully the power plate will lessen any opportunities for knock. Before I go out and bust a mid 10 second run on my 28 x 9 MT ET Drags, I'm thinking of making a few passes on the street tires to shake it down since I don't have a cage. I hate getting kicked out on my first run. Once I get it setup for the top end I'll put on the slicks. Too bad my boost guage only goes to 25 psi. You can link to my setup from my sig for more info.

Why I think it can go faster now:

Better altitude, bigger injectors and RJC powerplate = turn up the boost.

Any predictions?

If I can 60 foot under 2.0 I think an 11.9 is possible with a trap speed pushing 130. Trouble will be the 1-2 shift. This thing will want to light 'em up on the shift. People will be like WTF is that thing with those little back tires and faded paint job

Were are you running Jim?
Be careful with that much power and no traction.

check my sig and previous post. just ease into the power with the regular radials. my best short was a 1.8 :)

Hey Royal! How's it going? Yeah, I'm down in sunny FL. It was in the 80's yesterday and today. Rollin' with the windows down is more my style.

Gonna try to run at Bradenton Motorsports Park on Feb 4th at the TnT if I can get the new balancer on my crank, which has a little damage, so we'll see if the crank needs its snout refinished. Hope it all just goes back together. Gotta drop the pan and clean out the metal from the oil pickup too, which I'm not looking forward to doing this weekend.

Wow, 11.1 @ 125. You must be running more than a 225 radial:) I figure maybe 1-2 psi boost off the line and then ease into it. I have trouble easing into it though, I usually get a few feet out and then mash it down. Yeah, I've run in the 13's at ludacris (sp) speed before. Even on my 12.3 radial run I went sideways in 2nd from my heavy right foot. I think 11's are possible if I'm easy on the gas.

Careful with street tires and power.. if you miscalculate how much you can put down, you can lose control and hurt yourself and others.

Let alone waiting for an hour to run.. then wasting the run. These Buicks are not happy when you blow away the tires.. at power..

BMP wont kick you out. Just put N/T on the window..

Thanks for the heads up Razor,

Don't worry, I'm careful. The instant I let off the go pedal my Buick always straghtens itself. I inspect my c-clips too just to be on the safe side after hard runs. Plus, I have a lot of seat time in my balanced Z06 going sideways through intersections (no one on the road just me) on a 1-2 shift at 50 mph. Highly recommended when no one is around. Fun, not scary, it's a well balanced machine. However, the Buick scares me when it gets loose so I never try to correct it. I just let off, get it straight and get back on the gas.

Good to know about N/T, it's much appreciated info. I have no intention of putting it into the wall. I've seen some crazy stuff happen at the track, but no walls for me thanks. Hopefully no miscalculation here: The dyno says 594/695 :-) Tad high? Hmmm....

What's N/T?

Lemme guess...

Not Thinking?

or

No Time?

Seems like a good idea to me. Do I get a slip if I say N/T? Guess I won't, but that's ok, only on my last run I'll wipe off the N/T and see what it is doing. If I can make it down the track pushing 30 psi boost and no knock, I'll have to see what the #'s say on the run following that with no other changes to the setup.

PM me if it's off the record type of stuff.

N/T means no time.. they dont display the time but give you the time slip. It keeps people from looking to hard at the car.

The Sundays are the best prep days..

Well bring it down.. we can sure use the competition.. you have three locally pretty regular at the track.. I'm the slow poke  easy pickins

I only made 584.7..

N/T it is then. I guess if I beat a 11 second car in the other lane, then they'll know I'm faster than that guy:)

I'm gonna be the slow poke if you're going 10.50's. I have to do better than my 11.2 from Denver if I'm gonna represent.

I found this http://www.hartlineperformance.com/airflow/airflow.html and plugged in my numbers from Bandimere to back calculate a 123 mph pass which was 24 psi boost from best I can remember and recalculated to 29.92 Hg and I should go mid 10's at 127-129 mph if the temp is good. If I hit 30 psi boost it said I could go low 10's at 130+. I only have larger rear brake shoes, no t-brake, so my 60's aren't spectacular.

Yeah, it will be nice to hit the track again soon.

you should have no problem getting a 11 second pass at that speed, i went 12.09 at 114 on a 1.9 short time with a major exhaust leak and only 17lbs of boost,

Yeah, I think 10's should be "easy" on my 28x9's. Just cruising around on the street the Buick is INSANE compared to driving around at 5800 feet up back in Denver. Spools up faster and just 5psi boost is enough to get me in trouble way too quick around here, if it got any kind of traction at all on a measly 5 psi of boost. I can't hardly wait to get it back together as soon as my balancer gets here.

Hey did you sign up for the tamparacing event the 26th of Feb. Its a track rental=less police'ing of the rules..

Look in the Fl section for the link.. or go to www.tamparacing.com only 27 bucks. 105 cars

Dont worry.. the beatings will continue till the morale improves

No I didn't sign up yet. Looks like some rice will be there. I'm thinking I should throw on the original chrome trim and go into super sleeper mode.

Don't put too much faith into that power plate...it isn't majic. I insatlled one on my car, and it does little to no better than without it.

hey razor,

when are you gonna teach those boys down south about the "pink stuff"..who needs slicks???

Since I'm down at a much lower altitude, I'm gonna take it easy on the first few passes. 17 psi boost, then ~20 then ~24 then ~25+ etc...I'm not looking for more power with the RJC power plate, just looking to reduce the possiblity for knock/detonation.
