Problem #1. Stall. Drove to work this morning in my GN. Takes about 25 mins at cruising speed on the highway. Got off at my exit. Slowed down to about 25 to coast through the I-Pass tollbooth lane. Had a green light to turn right at the street after the tollbooth. Went to make my turn, realized I had no power steering, turned my music down, and realized that my car wasn't running.
Only two ideas I have are EGR problem or TCC, since it apparently happened when I slowed down after leaving the highway. Anyone have a better diagnosis?
Issue #2. Car is still knocking when I put the engine under heavy load and get to about 10psi boost. I spend almost all my time driving in Overdrive, but today I felt like doing some shifting myself, and it seemed that when I made the same sort of pull in 3rd gear, I didn't get any knock. Is it simply because the slippage occuring in the torque converter puts less of a strain on the engine? I wouldn't expect less knock though. Seeing as I probably got up to around 4500 RPM in 3rd with no knock, yet in OD I probably start knocking at 3500 under boost. If knock can be attributed to high chamber temps, I'd expect it to be worse with increased RPM. Is it normal to expect less knock in a lower gear? Or is this a clue as to where some of my problems might lie?
Appreciate the help.
