Hi, I'm new to this forum, I got a prepped 200r4 to put in my 68 firebird (I own a 71 buick too) and I need a few things that didn't come on the tranny and need help on what to get and where to get it. I'm looking on a budget for this stuff since their not as vital.
1.) speedo gear and housing. I'm assuming the trans has stock drive gear, but I need the rest to bolt on. need the housing and gear, running 4.56's with around 27" tire.
2.) tv cable. figure I can get a stock one at parts store. which one is the longest? what make models should I work off of. I will also need the intake bracket to hold the cable and a stud for the carb to clip it in. (edelbrock performer).
3.) dipstick. any lower cost alternatives to lokar? I may have one, but would have to find and need to fit 68 firebird

any help would be appreciated, especially part numbers, etc, can't find much on summitt and jegs. If any of you guys have some of these parts and want to sell, email me at davsca941@aol.com and let me know how much. want to get these quick to get rolling.

I can help you with somethings, others will chine in too

The speedo plug can be got at a wrecker, I paid $3 for one with a driven gear.
To get the right combination of speedo drive and driven gears try this link, it has GM part # too

Here is a list of vehicles that came with the 2004R, you can spot them at the wreckers,

For a reasonibly priced TV cable for a carbed car try GM # 25515598 about $20

For a TV cable bracket try TCI
700R4 & 2004R Carter® AFB™, Quadrajet™, Edelbrock® 376700
Edelbrock® carburetor TV Cable geometry corrector kit 376710
700R4 & 2004R Holley® carburetor 376705
Holley® carburetor TV Cable geometry corrector kit 376715

I do recomend the geometry corrector to get the proper TV position and pull. It comes with the correct stud for a TV cable.
Here is another geometry corrector for an Edelbrock

Also you will need metric torque convertor bolts GM # 1261968

For a dipstick try GM# 15531900 for indicator and 14024971 for tube. And a black plastic inspection cover GM # 14092879

haven't built a tranny in 20 years!! Just don't have the time, tools or place to do them anymore.
Am a car guy though, and have R&R 'ed too many trannys.
Converted a ride to a 200 4R not that long ago, so had most of the info needed. :)
