I have an external wastegate on my crossover pipe with terry houston headers. I have a 3.5 inch downpipe from terry with the wastegate lever in place. How do I keep the wastegate lever in the downpipe from opening and closing as the car is driven? Terry said I wil need to come up with a way to make the lever stationairy. Has anyone done this already ? Thanks

A HD wastegate actuator with the hose off? A large spring?

Disconnect the hose to the factory accuator , tighten the rod in several turns and it should stay closed, let us know how it works

you could always have the wastegate hole in the turbo welded shut ....as to prevent any leakage.... along with unhooking the wastegate actuator

I am new to the turbo cars so if I sound a little slow its because I am:) I just installed a pt54 turbo and I dont have a stock actuater on the buick. The previous turbo did not have the stock actuater either but the downpipe I was using was just a 2.5 inch pipe without anything inside to hook up to a actuater rod. The new 3.5 inch pipe has the valve inside the pipe to use with the stock actuater. The turbo I just installed did not use the stock actuater on the last car it was on so I was told it would work fine with the external wastegate. Terry Houston said I need to come up with a way to keep the valve inside his downpipe from opening and closing as I drive the car. I hope I am explaining what I am trying to accomplish ok? So from what I have read so far it seems that I may be able to weld the arm of the actuater lever that is on the side of my new downpipe to keep it in one position? Thanks for your help guys

I wouldn't weld anything, yet. A stiff Spring could hold the flapper closed, or use something like a turnbuckle. Use one of the bolts on the compressor housing to attach a bracket to.

If you are good with sheet metal, you could make a "gasket" out of metal that traces the THDP outline, but covers the wastegate hole.

If you do resort to welding, just have them "tack" weld a plate over the hole in the turbine housing and then just let the THDP puck flop freely.
