I have turbolink s/w for troubleshooting and it always shows that my car is in 4th gear, even when the car is in neutral or park. I verified with another GN that this is not normal for this s/w.

where should I look to resolve this issue. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
Frank

It's a normally closed switch so if you show it being on all the time, there is an opening in that circuit. It could be as simple as the wire terminal being disconnected from the switch on the valve body to a break in the wire somewhere in the harness.

I'd start by measuring continuity to ground on that circuit with a multimeter. Unplug the external harness from the transmission case connector and look closely at the connector body.

You should see terminal labels molded onto the connector; A, B, C & D. The fourth gear pressure switch circuit is terminal B. Probe from terminal D on the case connector to ground and see what happens. If you have continuity, you're probably fine on that end and have a wiring harness issue.

If you do not show continuity to ground in the transmission, pull the pan & diagnose.

Has anybody told you that you ROCK! today?

MeanBuick,

Thanks for such detail. Looks like I'll whip out my Multimeter and get to work.

The car doesn't have a problem going into OD, so I know that the tranny is ok.
