4x4 question

my 89 S-10 4x4 is not engaging into 4 wheel drive.

I have read up on some forums that say check for vacuum leak at actuator.
where is it? my hayes repair book doesn't show it.

The 4 wheel engaged back in summer but now that the snow is here I get nothing. the light up display doesn't even show the front wheels engaging.
The shifter moves into 4-H with no problem.

Believe it is under the battery tray, at least it is on my 96 Blazer.

Passenger side, under battery tray. Will pull vac. when lever is moved to 4wd thru a $54 swithch on the t-case. Pulls a cable that goes to the front diff. Common quick fix is to use a manual choke lever connected to the actuator ball.
