Group - This is a great looking site, thanks. I am a professional appraiser and just appraised a 1979 Riviera S-Type Turbo with 2,389 miles. This car is from a collector and is nearly perfect in all ways. Price guides seem to be very average for a car of this condition. The owner may be interested in selling the car so I'm looking for any suggestions on true fair market value as well as insurance replacement value.

I have a value in mind, comparing it to other prime condition (very high number 2, close to a number 1) similar vehicles. However, this seems to be the area for experts on this vehicle.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. If buyers are interested I can connect you with the owner.

I'm not sure this is the *best* place to get the insight you were looking for, although every bit helps.

The FWD Riviera S-Type being carb-turbo'd is a very different animal from the RWD Regals, and the values and knowledge base are, for many here, worlds apart.

There are a couple guys on here who are fans of them, myself included, however I'd steer you to the Riviera Owners Association - Buick Club of America - BCA - Welcome - where there is their own subsection on that site dedicated exclusively to Rivieras.

I think that the value for that car hinges far more on its status as a Riviera with super low miles, than it's membership in the turbocharged buick crowd...

Thanks for the heads up - I'll hop over there and see what's up. However, as a retired shop owner and (still) ASE Master, I really enjoyed this site and plan on checking back often. I have had a half dozen faithful GN customers for a couple decades and enjoyed the advanced (for the time)technology and challenges they presented. Best regards...
