85 maf and 87 maf plug

when i looked at the 85 maf today it has a - and + on the bottom where the plug is, the 87 does not , how do i no if it is on the right way is there only one way for the plug to go or should i have the 87 plug,

The plug should only be able to go in one way...

For lack of a better explaination, the plug is keyed to go on one way only...

The little clip on the plug should lock onto the MAF...ie, it should snap into place...
