For sale is a factory original 86/87 T-R catalytic converter. It was removed from my 87 turbo-T at 11K ORIGINAL miles back in 1989 when I installed a S/S ATR exhaust system with gutted cat. Forgot I still had it and rediscovered it this weekend while cleaning out the garage.

Price? I don't know, maybe $250? Let me know if you guys think the price is out of line, OK?

Please send me a PM if interested. Ships from NC.

Markings on the catalytic converter

Just in case anyone would like to know the markings on the cat (one of the members here already asked me to provide these markings), they are:

25103338 (which I assume is the GM P/N) and 1407C4

It also says "AC - MADE IN USA"

This is DEFINITELY an original OEM GM low-miles (11K) T-R converter that has been sealed in a twist-tied plastic bag since I removed it in 1989.

OK, here's some pics of the cat

WOW, this is a tough crowd! Nevertheless, ask and you shall receive!

Refer to the pics I just took of the cat that I have for sale. I did take a buf puf to it lightly to remove any light surface oxidation, but I didn't put any muscle into it for fear of thinning out the original protective coating on the heat shield. I also did this to make it easier to see the numbers on the side of the cat.

The 4 mounting studs where the y-pipe attaches will need to be wire brushed and maybe some high heat anti-seize lubricant rubbed onto them prior to installation - just in case you need to remove anything to the rear of the cat at some point in the future. Quite honestly, this cat will probably outlast the rest of your exhaust system unless you've installed aircraft grade stainless steel y-pipes, exhaust pipes and mufflers in back of the cat, and just as long as you're not using ZDDPlus and/or you're not burning oil and/or running your fuel mixture too rich and/or using high octane race gas - which of course will surely lead to PREMATURE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE.

As you can see there is only minor evidence of some heat being generated in the cat as a result of normal use which did discolor only a small area of the heat shield, which is indicative of an 11K mile original cat that was removed from a car that was running properly prior to removal.

Sorry if the pics aren't of a very high quality. My camera is a low end 5 year old model and I don't have a pro photo booth, so shadows are hard to avoid and the resolution isn't that great.

For right now I'm gonna stand firm at $250 and see what happens. I can always drop my price a little later if it doesn't sell.

Thanks for looking!

Catty has been SOLD

The kitty has found a new home.

Many thanks to all that inquired about it and/or made offers on it and/or suggested that I post pics of it.
