someone tried converting to 86-87 comp in my 84 and put a mat sensor in i put in 84 comp and i am blowing black smoke out exhaust. what did they splice the mat sensor to and how do i fix it to run 84 comp. there is a brown wire thats splice into from comp but i cant find what it was connected to
any schemeatics with color code to comp? thanks andy

why'd you switch back?

if your 87 ecm went bad go get another one.

my engine is stock except for weld wheels, 87 kenne bell exhaust ,hotwire kit on fuel pump .have no idea what pump is in tank but it must be hi perf one as the old engine had 3 in down pipe.i went with 84 comp because engine stock.i want to remove mat sensor so engine will run right(emissions in illinois).also my factory dash tach doesnt work.i just want a nice driver that i dont have to work on all the time. i think the pump is to big and fuel pressure is to hi,is this possable? i did try the 87 comp and ran worse with my monitor not being able to read anything .no mods are planned .but i do have an extra turbo with an engraving inside the housing TB0330 .if this is a t33 turbo and i can get the intake propellor replaced i will use this turbo. thanks for the help

o.k.,so let me get this straight...you bought the car with a hotwired aftermarket fuel pump,87 ecm,3" dp and an exhaust?

was it blowing black smoke when you bought it?

or did it start blowing smoke when you swapped the ecm?

the engine being stock has nothing to do with which ecm you should run, trust me,you want the 87 ecm.

do you have any idea what injectors you have?cuz if you have larger than stock injectors and you are trying to run the stock chip you'll be blowing black smoke, washing down the cylinder walls and generally running like sh!t.

if you want a reliable driver that you never have to work on,buy a fvckin honda;) :D

84 ecm

brought car without eng and trans ,got stock engine locally.previous owner kept most of worthwhile parts. and kept the bolton part that connect turbo to dp.has stock injectors as far as i know.has hotwire kit to so must have hi pressure fuel pump.
3 in downpipe welded into stock 84 exhaust. it runs ok til about 7 pound of boost.then chugs alittle with smoke.i have now idea how ran before.guy i got eng from said it was ok.my 87 comp has a RA93 chip(might be a red armstong 93octane chip).went up to ANS performance today.pete said it might be to hi of fuel psi,or bad gas .as soon as i get the heater core replace im going to run it up there for a injector cleaning , converters and have my spare turbo intake prepellor replaced.if it is a ta33 like engraved inside numbers say it is i will be puting it back on.
