The front seal on my A/C compressor was leaking oil making a mess in the engine compartment. The system still worked, but was weakening. It was previously retrofitted with R-134a. So I bought a new compressor, accumulator, orifice tube and esther oil. For equipment I have gauges, vacuum pump, vacuum pump oil, flush kit, flush fluid and spanner tool for the clutch.

Because there was no internal damage, I am unsure how to proceed with reassembly regarding how to have the proper amount of oil in the right places prior to pulling a vacuum.

The new compressor came with 3 ounces of esther oil in it already. I believe that the total oil in a GN system is supposed to be 6 oz.

Do I simply add 3 oz to the accumulator and call it "good"? - or - Do I need to use the flush kit to blow out the lines, evaporator and condenser first to make sure that oil has not accumulated in those areas?

Personally I would add the 3 oz. to the accumulator and vacuum it and run it.
I didn't flush the lines when converting to 134 and that took a different oil on top of the original oil.
Just my .02.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm leaning in that direction because there clearly isn't any shrapnel in the system as the result of damage. Sometimes overdoing things can create other problems.
