I want everyone to know that we have a vendor-Bruce Toole-at Performance Transmissions, that has a heart as big as all outdoors-bar none.
In short, I was within a week of picking up the phone and making the long awaited call to Bruce and order up one of his killer trans-billet and all-, and one of his 9/11 converters. But life's course can sometimes take turns that aren't expected, and mine did, and sorry to say one of Bruce's transmission would not find its home in my car, at least not within the near forseeable future. I had only one choice...I had to TRY to rebuild the trans myself...yeah right!!, hell I barely knew that what a transmission looked like much less rebuild it, but I was determined to do so.
During the rebuild I emailed Bruce many, many times asking for help with a multitude of questions about the rebuild, all of the questions he answered by emails, but then he insisted I call him (kinda thought I was going to get a cussin' out for bugging him so much). It was during that phone conversation that I told him about why I had to delay the transmission purchase from him, it was at that point he insisted that I box up and send him the "innards" of my trans, he said he wanted to "check" my work to be sure everything was set up properly, I told him I could NOT afford to spend anymore money on the trans other than a shift kit...PERIOD. However, and needless to say I took him up his offer to "check" my work:>) so off to PTS with the "innards" went the big brown truck.
In less than 2 weeks the big brown truck stopped at my house with a package from Bruce.....Folks, when I tore into the box I could hardly believe my eyes-there were new parts, (adjustable band apply pin, larger anchor pin, large boost valve, etc.,), parts that were machined, plastic and bronze part had been replace with rollered bearings, parts that had been replaced with MUCH better parts-in other words the only thing that is now different from my trans and one of Bruce's billet trans is just the billet, not only did this guy "check" my work he had replaced EVERYTHING with the best of parts in the high performance world!! I could hardly believe my eyes! Then I started getting mad. I had repeatedly told Bruce that I could NOT afford anymore money on the trans and that I could barely afford the GM stock rebuild kit that I already purchased. I then saw the envolpe market "INVOICE"...getting madder and expecting a bill that I thought would be sky high, I opened and read the inovice billing....in the span of maybe 5 minutes, I couldn't believe my eyes for the second time!
The invoice totaled over $1,500.00....but where it sez remit this amount....well let me say this..I told Bruce I could afford no more than a shfit kit......
Again "da man" has a heart as big as all out doors. Bruce, I will forever be grateful.
