Mine is adjustible but it seems i've got it turned in to its maximum - but i'm only seeing 10-12 PSI.

If I cut off more of the end of the rod - it will be awful tight to get the rod back on to the flapper.

I read Ken Mosher's DIY Adj Wastegate diagram on gnttype.org but I cant figure out where to get a pipe coupler for the middle. That way I could connect it loose to the flapper and then tighten it up once its on - where the way I have it now I gotta turn the end that attaches to the flapper first then attach it.

Whats everyone else got for an Adj Wastegate ???

you can get the coupler at any Home Depot, I just got one last weekend it is in the hardware section in the bins with all the nuts and bolts (took me awhile to find) with nuts it still costs me under $1.00

Maybe it's not the WG, but something else limiting your boost. Try getting a turnbuckle with a hook and eye, and then clamp your WG closed. Carefully see if you can get above 12 psi.

I was thinking the same thing. Especially if youve cut the rod before, you shouldnt have any problem getting anymore boost. Isnt 12~psi about stock with the non-adjustable? I could have sworn that just having the replacement adjustable WG you could get to at least 15psi. I remember taking off I think 1/4" and was able to get to 20 (been awhile, but that sounds about right). Maybe there is a problem with vac hoses, or solenoid, or PUCK SEALING? Unless Im missing something, problem just sounds a little peculiar.

If my WG solenoid was bad - wouldnt I pop a code ? All my VAC lines are checked out and good - I just re did them after doing my intake and injectors.

Maybe I could compare rod lengths with any of you guys running 15+ PSI.

If someone can - do me a favour and measure the rod from end to end i'll compare it with mine to see if thats my problem.

I really only cut a small amount off the end of it and screwed the tip all the way as far as it cud go....

Rod lengths won't help much. Different cars use different lengths.

The solenoid is an output, so I don't think it will light the SES.

I don't think you would need to cut anything off just to get to 15psi. Clamping it shut will tell you which direction to look.

Hey thanks for that post. Was helpful and assisted with my problem.

Well....I went to Home Depot today and bought a pipe coupler, ans 1/4" -20 die and wrench. Went to work in the garage and trimmed about 1/2" off the rod in the middle - put it all back together and went for a spin.

I got 15 - 17 PSI boost maximum. Spool was great and so was wheelspin :)

I had to smoke the tires a few times just to make sure everything was in good order...

So it seems my WG was not short enough and now the problem is fixed. I wanna keep it safe though...my TA-33 is new so I don't wanna have to replace it...

What you guys figure is a safe boost level for it ???

15 - 17 PSI ?

Safe boost for your turbo? 25+psi. I had my little TA49 (same turbo in a different housing I believe) at 24+ psi at all times and my motor flowed a decent amount of air.

Well, I messed with the WG rod a 'lil more - chopped some more off.

I'm happy to report now that 20 - 25 PSI is no problem.

I just need to put the 3.73:1 posi rear in it and get rid of the one wheel peel. You guys think maxeffort chip is my next move ?
