Looking for some tips on prepping fillers for paint and if anything special needs to be done with the primer and paint when applied. Paint on the fillers is beginning crack on one and the other's have paint peeling and would like suggestions on what to do with them.

I'll jump in because he's getting the rears from me. The rears have the original paint, and a poorly prepped layer of paint on top of that, which is peeling in some spots, though most of the peeling is under the bumper area, I figure someone was too lazy to take the bumper off, and prepped the open spots but not the bottoms. These fillers have been off the road since at least the mid 90's or earlier, they are semi delicate, meaning they are flexible enough to move them around and they get real limber with a little warmth, but if you wanted to, I'm sure they could be broken. Don't know if there's a chemical to do the dirty work of stripping them or not. I have 2 drivers side fillers so maybe we can experiment with one, and if that fails you can use the one off the 86 GN which has been off the road since 88. The original paint on it, I think, could be painted over, there's no checking or cracking on it.

I was wrong about which filler I have extra, I do have an extra driver side but the paint is cracked to sh!t and chipping off. seems very flexible yet though. Can't believe there's no answer on this for as many people do repaints????

I think the number of usable OE fillers in existence is dwindling very rapidly. The only reason these are good is the 15+ years in storage. You're on your own buddy!

Soda Blast to strip and then prep like you would any urethane part. I used bulldog tie coat with flex agent in the clear
