Ken,

As the topic header reads, I took the car out of Storage yesterday (Finally some decent weather here)
as soon as I put the cable in it threw the car into ALDL Mode. Now this DID happen before, but as soon
as Turbolink powered-up and I connected, it went back to Normal.

And YES, I did check to make sure NORMAL Mode was commanded in ECM Mode!

And YES, I did try Fresh Batteries!

But as soon as even the cable was pluged-in, Turbolink not even on - BAM high Idle & ALDL Mode - Remove the cable, and its Back to Normal!!! The last time I used the car & Tlink, it worked perfect, although like I said above, I've always seemed to have the problem of Not being able to leave the Cable plugged-in as It would Command ALDL Mode until Tlink was up and running

I can send you the cable, Let me Know

Thanks! & Happy Holidays!!!

Brian

Replied to the same thing in email ...

This can happen if you get static and the FET that controls the ALDL switching gets zapped. A quick fix is:

  • CAREFULLY take the PC end of the cable apart.
  • There should be an ORANGE wire.
  • Snip that and carefully reassemble (be sure to note how the strain relief collar and such work)

That'll get you up and running. When/if you ever need to use the ALDL mode in a vehicle (primarily there just for the hot air cars), send me the cable with a note and I'll solder a new FET on the board and fix it up for you.
