I was curious if any of you have tried going from Alcohol injection/pumpgas to racegas at the track with the same boost/timing settings to see if any power was gained? I am definatly a believe on alky injection, and plan to set it up on my car very shortly, but I was just curious exactly how much percentage of power can be had on the alky injection. If any of you have back to back MPH comparisons on alky vs. racegas on the same setup, I'd be really interested to hear it.

I hear most people say you can get 90% of the power you can with racegas, by using alcohol injection. On a car that traps 120 on race fuel, what does it usually run on pumpgas + Alky injection.

Thanks for any information.

My car on a good day should trap around 120 on race gas, but I haven't had the chance to do it with the new combo. On 93 and alky I'm trapping about 115. Thats at around 25lbs of boost. With racegas, I should be able to run 30lbs on a good night.

BLACK6PACK--what chip and timing do you run the 25# boost with? Thanks.

So you are saying that at 30lbs you should trap 120? So, if you were on racegas, and lowered the boost to 25lbs, you would probobly trap ~115 (1mph loss per PSI of boost), which is what you trap on 93+alky! Thats pretty cool! Seems that at 25lbs there is plenty of octane in a 93+alky setup, and racegas is not even needed! Am I correct in this train of thought?

So for 25psi, 93+alky does the same as racegas in your car?

What I say my car SHOULD do and what it will really do is 2 different things. ;)

I should have some racegas times pretty soon.

Yes, at 25 psi race gas is not needed, but I can't go above 25 psi on 93 without getting knock. So, I would need race gas to be able to run 30 psi and hopefully hit 120 in the 1/4. If running properly the car shouldn't know the difference between 25 psi on alky or 25 psi on race gas.

Look Quick,
I've been running 25 psi on 93 and alky with a MaxEffort 16 Pos. Thumbwheel chip. The timing on the race settings, which is what I was using, is 23*

Black6Pack,

I hear what you mean about the "should run" thing. Been the story of my car's life. Never runs as it should. LOL.

Which alky inj. kit are you running? If you had to do it all over again, would you buy the same one?

Thanks again.

I have the SMC kit. I've had it for about a year and a half. I was one of the first in South Florida to have one, so I was on my own as far as tuning. I had a problem with the kit, sent it to steve, it came back 3 days later, and has worked fine since. No questions asked. I then upgraded to the dual nozzle setup. Steve sent the nozzles in a couple of days, and it works perfect.

I will say that I am interested in how the propane kits will work. So far I've seen nothing, performance wise, that will make me switch over.
