to sum everything up that i have to ask, how much boost could i run (on the street) on a completly stock car, (except for exhaust, 3" DP and 2.5" Exhaust and a K&N filter)?

then what could i run if i had: 009's, TE-44 (or something in that neighborhood), a 340 fuel pump, hotwire kit and everything else i would have to do to my fuel system

how much does the set up cost?

well thanks for info

neil

stock turbos are usually crapped out around 23 psi. a TE44 is good to around 25-26 psi. 22-25 psi is the sweet spot for the TE44. i got a couple friends with TE44s running 24-25 psi and their cars feel very strong. with alky the limit seems to be 23 psi on the stock turbo and 25 with a TE44. ive seen a few cars running 26 psi w/TE44s or PT51s with 94 octane gas and alky. most people run about 23-25 psi with TE44s and pump gas with alky. alky setup is anywhere from $350-$400 new dependinmg on what options you want (dual nozzle, 1 gallon tank) from SMC. i got my kit used off the board for $160 shipped. new TE44 is about $700 from any vendor. 009s can be found all the time in the for sale section in the low $200 range. i would get MSD 50s if you plan on going low/mid 11s thos b/c the 009s are rated for mid 11s. i personally would rather have more injector than i need and room to grow rather than not enough, but its your choice. 50s are the biggest injector available for the stock ECM. new 009s are about $250 new. 340 pump/hotwire kit from Racetronix is $150 and well worth it. i bought it and am well pleased with it, it bolts right in and will support about mid 10s. also a good adjustable regulator will be around $100. i got a billet top 233 regulator and it works fine. Cal Hartline runs one on his mid 8 second GN. HTH:cool:

so with stock injectors i can go 23 psi on the street? boy if thats true i know what comes after the scan master, fuel pump and regulator

should be able to. gotta watch tho b/c stock injectors are 15 yr old pieces and arent always in the best of health. not sure what ET level stockers are usually done at. i think i remember my chip burner friend telling his friend that at the high 12s his stock injectors were at 100% DC (always open, static, bad). you will need a new chip burned for alky (higher timing) and that will quicken spoolup and power.

any known chip burner can do one. all people have their favorites. a search should turn up many results. some well known burners i can think of are JayC, Jim Testa, Joe Lubrant, and some guys on this board. there are many others though.

BTW, Vendor, i just read your profile and we both live in FL and my B-Day is May 3rd 1985, LOL. you gonn be at the Buicks at Bradenton event in March?

haha, thats kinda funny, uh i dont know yet, im thinking about it, but i dont nesscarly have the $$ flow, and i dont know where im going to stay, and it is also talking my GF into going.. humm im thinking about it, but then the thing is if i want to race i need some one to sign for me, since im in the same boat you are...

Stock injectors are out of fuel at 23psi. However the alcohol can band aid the situation and add enough fuel to keep the car from blowing up.

Do not run 23psi on stock turbo at the track on race gas only, as you will have the octane but not the fuel volume. A lot of people have done it, but not over and over again. My O2's were dropping to the 750's on the times I ran below

boy that's the truth...i was scary lean when i ran 23 lbs of boost with my stock turbo on stock injectors...i had the fuel pressure at 50 lbs with the line off! any knock and i probably would have blown a headgasket for sure...but i got lucky and ran a 12.2 @ 112 mph

that was with pure 110 race gas and a 108 red armstrong race chip...slicks...cold air intake...exhaust...3" DP...FUEL PUMP...regulator...RJC powerplate (probably helped by not blowing a headgasket)...the usual small upgrades

oh btw i tried running 25 psi on the stock turbo one time just because i was stupid and thought i could go as high as i wanted as long as i had the octane...boy was i wrong! at 25 psi i redlined the knock gauge with 15 degrees of knock...i was told that the stock turbo at that kind of boost was just throwing HOT air and was heating up the intake charge so great that the fuel was precombusting...i was DAMN lucky not to have caused any motor damage...to this day i am not sure how i came out of that without at least a headgasket...maybe because the car was never ever raced before and the gaskets were in excellent shape...since then i have watched knock like crazy and let off if it lights up the 2nd or third green light...even 23 psi is pushing it but it was 45 degrees outside when i ran that...

what do you mean? if you are referring to our ages and not being old enough to run i dont see why not. i went to a test and tune night with my SHO once when i was 16 and ran all i wanted to.
