I was working on installing my new system today and went to install the overflow
Bottle in front of the battery like it shows in the instructions and while it will wedge into
That spot I didn't care for it. I fear over time the vibration and pressure against the bottle and core would eventually cause a leak . I found I could mount it on the drivers side of the radiator in front of the airfilter and use the supplied brackets to secure it to the core support. The included clear tygon hose looks to be long enough to reach too. I would have to clamp the hose to the fan shroud in a couple places . Has anyone done this and is there anything wrong in going it like that?

That core support location has never led to any issues "yet" and its out of the way. Thats primarily the reason for using it.

Now.. you can mount that bottle anywhere you like. Keep it empty as that way it maximizes its capacity. I will warn on using the supplied plastic brackets.. they have been known to get brittle and break over time. It may yield a better result using some long black zip ties to secure the bottle or making some straps out of any type of metal.

Never have had issues with the bottle itself except for caps getting lost. This is after having sold 4000+ of those little bottles.

Leave you with this, in the 60's cars never had overflow bottles. Example a 65 Mustang, 66 Corvette, etc.. all they would do is run a hose down the side of the radiator and not fill the radiators all the way to the top. When emmissions started.. higher temp thermostats started being used.. and this led to higher operating temps and the use of coolant recovery systems. With a 160 stat on your Buick.. water never boils or pushes out.. unless you have a bad radiator or?? For racing at a track, a container at least 16 oz is required to keep any liquid from hitting the track. Hence why its included with the kit.

Some even use the washer reservoir as an overflow for the radiator. Its just a simple fitting put into a plastic tank. Though I would use black tubing and hide it behind the core support. I dont like the clear tubing personally.

I have a 160 Thermostat but it runs hotter... I guess I need better fans or a new radiator...:(
I guess I can try it stuffed in there... I just prefer to solidly mount things although I agree that sucker aint going anywhere it is tight !
My kit came with clear hose btw ordered through G-body parts fwiw...Id preferred black too
Planning to finish under the hood today !

Old thread, but how do you prevent the hose from being crimped where it enters the tank when the tank is placed behind the battery?

The clear hose is long enough to loop down and back.
Cap on mini towards radiator.

I found some black hose that was thicker and it seems to not kink. Thanks for reply.

This is on the TTA on the rad support. First pic. is with the plastic bracket, held up for a couple of years. So in Second pic. 016.JPG018.JPG I went with large zip ties, could have used black but I used a lighter color. Been on a few months now and holding up great.
