Has anyone on this board ever had a problem with the Alto wide band?
I am fighting a 2-3 bind up and upon disassembly my band is showing signs of burning on 2 of the 3 strips that grap the drum. Outer one and center.
The drum is perfectly straight and true. The only thing I could find is the pad that the anchor pin goes in is off center by .020. Doesn't seem like enough to cause it to do this. Any ideas?
Ran this by Lonnie and I got the idea this is something new to him.

We use nothing but the Alto wide band Lee and never seen it, but then again, they are mass produced and anything can happen from time to time.

I am gonna have to check out where my last one was welded. It had about 12,000 miles on it and it still shifted fine when i pulled it but there was a nice black burn mark down the middle. I figured it was because of the 2nd gear starts the car had been having due to trash in the valve body. I did have one of the earlier bands a few years ago that weren't as enforced and i bent the anchor pin hole as well as sent a servo pin through the band. No problems since they started being reinforced and heat treated.

I have been using them since they came out and this is the first problem I have seen. If they only make 1 bad one in 10,000, I will get that 1. I think I will send it back to them and see what happens. Thanks for your replys.

The Center Of The Drum Is The Hottest Part Due To Its Thicness .the Top And Bottom Have More Area For Thermal Transfer.some Discoloration Can Be Considered Normanl As Long As The Drum Is Not Blued, burnt Or Glazed.it May Also Be A Calibration Error Resulting In Too Much Slip Time Between The Band And The Drum Although It Shifts Firm
