I have a near stock GN that I plan to add an Alky kit to in the near future. In the meantime, I plan to add a Scanmaster, Boost and Knock gauges. On the Boost gauge, should I look for a Vacuum/Boost gauge or just the 0-30 Boost only scale ?

Get one that shows vac also. If you have engine problems you can diag it with engine vacuum sometimes (ie burned, bent valves)

I prefer the straight 30# boost gauge. I like the fact that you have 30 graduations over 270 degrees of sweep as opposed to 30 graduations over 135 degrees (1/2 of 270 degrees boost/vac), more space between the numbers. You can detect the difference between 21 and 23# of boost easier. The difference between 21 and 23# of boost may be 1/16" on a boost/vac gauge as opposed to 1/8" on a boost gauge.

If I need a vacuum gauge for occasional testing, I can easily hook one up as needed. How often do you really need a vac gauge?

Go to your local speed shop and look at the different gauges to see what appeals to you. That's all that really matters, what you like.

+1 for me.

Good point on the scale range. Its also cool that I can pick it all up at Kirban's since they seem to only sell the Boost only gauge. Thanks to all for the great input.

Who make a quality gauge at an affordable price? I have the 3 gauge pillar pod and I'd like boost, oil pressure and water temp in it. There's the safety factor to think of as oil in the cabin is a bad thing. I'm spending a boatload of money every time I turn around, so low cost without sacrificing useability would be great. I'll add a voltmeter later under the dash. Suggestions?

You can get cheap guages at Pepboys . I would buy Autometer or Stewart Warner. Go with a quality guage. Also you can get a stainless steel isolator hose to run the oil psi in the car.
