Style: Gas furnace (aka 1965) with forced hot water heat into 3 zones via copper pipes

Question: On each pipe that leave's the main furnace distribution water junction. I have these tiny little canisters that are aluminum in color. They look like a metal cup truned upside down. Also one is above the expansion tank.

What are these for?
Are they screwed or sodiered in?
Should I be concerned if they drip or are they a relief.

Turbosam6 works in that field and I'm sure he can help you. Do a search on his name for his email.

Do they have the schrader valves in the top? Sounds like automatic air bleeders. The way they operate sometimes will let a small amount of water seep out, but if they are continuously dripping, then they probably need replaced. They screw in, and it may or may not require draining the system. They are easy to replace. Their purpose is to bleed air out of the system. You might not be able to go buy them yourself, so it might be a good idea to find a reputable local HVAC contractor to do the work. HTH

Yes they appear to have a little stem at the top.

And no turbo sam they are not leaking but once & awhile I will see a water droplet on it.
They are probably just venting as you said.

Our Local plumbing supply house will sell to the general public
but You won't get a discount. I had to repace one of the zone call valves. Cost me $45- But the plumber wanted $200.00

Thanks For the help.. I will tell my wife to stop looking as she is an alarmist & can't wait to nag me about replacing the furnace.
