Any thoughts on KB Air Filters?

Just installed a Kenne Bell 9" cone type air filter. I am running it dry (no oiling) as per the instructions. Has anyone tested these things to see if they filter as much as a K&N or a stock air filter? I hate to risk my new engine on this air filter.
