Anyone ever Dry Sanded instead of wet sanded?

Have been thinking of getting some of the orange peel out of my paint for a while now. And know that its normally done by wet sanding but theres a guys here that dry sands the clear he was trained by Renny Doyle who is one of the best out there but there is not much out there on the process so wanted to see if anyone knows much about it?

The paper will clog fast. I always wetsand the clear when going for a show finish. I hope he isn't using a DA.

there's a wet dry system 3m makes that we use made for a 6" da we dry sand with 1000 then 1500 depending on what type of finish we are trying to get can get all the way to 3000 grit. It depends on how long the clear has had to dry if over 30 days a wet paper would be cheaper it's about 50.00 a box for the 6" da paper and on a hard finish (over 30 days) it won't last long the advantage to that system is time if your in a shop it's a lot faster and less work I would buy some 1500 wet paper and take my time and do it by hand takes me about 6 hours to block one with 1500

The DA leaves little ripples from the vibration. 1500 on a DA works fine when nibbing a production paint job, but when it has to be flat, straight, and perfect, wet sanding with a block has no replacement.
