ok guys Ive been thinking for awhile about getting a beater car
however I want it to be fairly quick to still deal with some rice in my area plus I want something with stick shift for once and maybe something in just 13s or best high 12s, I came up with a small list of cars I have been thinking of
and most info on them that I could think of, if anyone knows any different on any of these please let me know

1989 Ford Sho (lightest model about 2900lbs)
1/4 mile 14.7s
fwd for rain and snow, fairly quick stock, expensive to modify and not real great potential unless using forced induction

1st Gen Turbo DSM
1/4 mile about 14.7s also
has awd for snow and rain, very light and I heard they are very easily modded

1987 Dodge Omni Shelby GLHS
1/4 mile around 14.7s as well
very light car, fwd( I think) for rain and snow, heard its very easy to modify as well

ok guys thats my list, if anyone out there knows any sites I can get info on these cars (preferably the latter 2) please let me know, or if you know any info on them like problems or any other beat car suggestions dont be afraid to speak up, keep in mind Im a college kid age 20 so I dont have lots of money to buy a newer beater car or anything like that, by the way if anyone knows what any of these cars are worth or should cost please post it

thank you

Carl

Scratch the Sho from the list if getting into the 13's is important to you. You would spend tons of money for forced induction to have nothing but problems. They are nice highway cars but have nothing for the quarter mile.

Both #2 and #3 are good choices. Being turbo cars, you can get tons for speed out of them by turning up the boost, just like our cars. Personally, I'd go for the DSM since I like 4wd cars, but keep in mind you're also taking on a lot of extra complexity and expense to maintain that 4wd system. There's a huge aftermarket and lots of support for both cars.

Also keep in mind, there are tons of other Mopar 4-cyl. turbo cars out there, even minivans, that are even more sleeper than the GLH, and these things are overflowing the junkyards in every state, so you'll have an endless supply of cheap parts.

For tons of homegrown performance upgrades on the GLH (many will work on any turbo car) check out:

A good aftermarket supplier for DSMs:
