I've been searching the various vendors for waterpumps for my rebuild since one of my main priorities with this rebuild will be to make the car run cool. Obviously I could go to Autozone and pick up a stock waterpump for next to nothing...and then I will have just a stock waterpump. My other option is to find an aftermarket high flow water pump. Since I am building a 4.1 I would like it to run as cool as possible. Who sells the best waterpump for the V6? And NO...I do NOT want an electric Meziere water pump. Full Throttle sells a high flow unit for 69.99. Summit sells one for 75 or so, and I'm sure I could find a few more out there. Anyone got any comments or suggestions? I will also be installing an upgraded radiator and probably a dual fan setup before its all done.

stock

There are many 9 second cars that run a stock waterpump. I would just get a "NEW" one (not reman) from Advance Auto or O'Reillys or whatever. Cant beat the price or the warranty. hope this helps.

I bought the one from summitt. Flowcooler I believe is the maker.. not bad. I have a recored stock radiator and she runs cool w my 160 stat.. I did notice for me in traffic she peaked at 190. I am goint to try the highflow stat to see if it drops it.

I did notice for me in traffic she peaked at 190, but again this is my only car/Daily driven. Upto 100miles a a week.. I am going to try the highflow stat to see if it drops it. Normal driving is fine...

x2.....we have also ran aftermarket cheapie's for years in various cars with NO problems. Melissa's is a stocker to.. :p

i have a stock replacement radiator that i bought from gm back in 99-00. I have used the rmi 125 in it every yr. I blowed the engine in 01 and had to get another block and the only other block i could find at the time was a .040. My car with a stock replacemant advance auto unit has kep me running cool for a few yrs now. I drive my cxar at least 75 miles a week. my temp stays in the 170 range normal driving in the hot summer days here in nc. Now when i run the A/C and get in the stop and go traffic the temp will creep up to 190-195. This is also with a RJC front mount intercooler on the car as well.

I think you just need a good radiator and a stock water pump will cool you just fine. thake that money and spend it on a alky system or race gas and have fun.

The stock v6 WP is fine they used the same model WPs on the mid 70s Buick 350's in the Electras, Le Sabre boats.

These cars really dont have cooling issues like other cars do.
Must be that big open grill

Well...thanks guys I think those responses were what I was looking for. I will use a stock pump:D Now its time to find a good radiator. Anyone got any opinions on a good performance radiator? My stock radiator has been overdue for replacement for a long time. I drive in the summer with the A/C on, I will have a 4.1 so cooling will be even more important. Opinions on the F-body plastic radiator? I really dont want to spend 500 dollars on an aluminum high dollar job if its not necessary.

Grumpy and Ted....exactly what extra parts would I need to install an F-body radiator..and what year F-body rad. should I be looking for? I would like to believe that the radiator was the same from 93-02 but this might not be correct. If I go the F-body route..exactly what other items will I need to make it work? Yall can take it to PM if you want.
